Create a Character Dissidia Edition – Vol.02 : Auron

I love the Dissidia games immensely, especially the second one, Dissidia 012 Duodecim. So, as you can guess, I want to contribute to the game and its community and try and “create” a new character for it. For this instalment, I give you the Samurai mentor from Final Fantasy X, Auron.

– Description :

– Story and Character :

Auron is the mentor character in Final Fantasy X. A traveling samurai now, once a traveling warrior monk, he is stern,serious and wise with a very caring side for his friends and “students”, even if he keeps his poker face at all times, slightly cracking that tough exterior with a slight smile followed by a very badass one-liner. Voiced by Ishikawa Hideo in japanese and by Matt McKenzie in english.

His manikin counterpart is called “Dark Ronnin” and has a light orange with red shades colour.

– Battle Style :

Auron’s fighting style is called Wandering Samurai. Auron is amongst the most powerful characters in the game, his strength and toughness shinning through, with a variety of strange techniques that only samurais use and can be used to trick the opponents with their oriental eastern movements and strange frame dispersion and even inflict status ailments. Unfortunately that comes at the cost of range, speed and accuracy / movement tracking. A special trait of Auron is the use of stances he can access, that come with the use of his brave attacks. The stances are standard, offensive, defensive and agile. Each stance has its own benefits and drawbacks evident by the status changes and are accessed by holding down the brave attack button down after the attack is finished to access the corresponding stance the attack gives and can be cancelled by using either an HP attack or holding down the brave attack button.

A quick 2 hit combo that has a 50% chance to lower the opponents speed for 30 seconds. The attacks tracks well and Auron rushes to his opponent before striking the first hit,the first attack piercing the opponent and the second slashing him. If the attack button is held down at the end of the combo, Auron goes into his Agile Stance.

[Zandatsu]

Close range – Physical (Low)

A varied 4 hit combo that alternates between slashing and piercing strikes that has the ability to change stances depending on which hit the attack button is held. This combo also has a 75% of generating a much larger amount[+ 100% more] of EX Force than normal with each hit.

The first hit is a quick, short range spinning slash that has an Absorb effect,the second hit is a very fast piercing stab that causes the enemy to feint if the combo doesn’t continue and Auron can enter his Agile Stance. The third hit is a two-handed defensive pierce that causes the target to be Chased and Auron can go into his Defensive Stance. The final hit starts with Auron continuing from the stab by slashing his way out and then proceed to deliver a two-handed heavy slash that also produces a dark path and Wall Rushes the enemy. Auron is able to enter his Offensive Stance from that.

A varied 3 hit combo that has the ability to change stances depending on which hit the attack button is held. This combo also has a 75% of generating a much larger amount[+ 100% more] of EX Force than normal with each hit.

The first attack of the combo is a counterattack that can block up to medium property hits but requires very strict timing, far stricter than Jecht Guard and normal blocking and is done by having Auron raise his left hand. If the player successfully counters an incoming attack then Auron immidaitely slashes the opponent while passing through him or her resulting in a stun and that’s how the combo starts. The first hit a running stab that can cause Chase and can make Auron enter his Agile Stance. The second hit is rising slash that raises both Auron and the opponent in the air and Auron is able to enter his Defensive Stance. The final hit is done with Auron making a slight second jump above the opponent and doing a falling stab that results in the opponent taking continuous brave damage until they hit the ground where Wall Rush damage is dealt and Auron is able to enter his Offensive Stance.

Auron makes a little jump up and towards the enemy and upon hitting the ground with a downwards stab, a small explosion happens 1 meter in front of him that deals HP damage. If the enemy is caught during the downwards stab then he or she will suffer some minor brave damage and will be thrown towards the explosion. If the attack is successful, Auron goes into his Defensive Stance.

[Shooting Star]

Auron dashes towards the enemy and does a baseball like slash that inflicts medium brave damage and HP damage and Wall Rushes the enemy no matter how far he or she is from a wall. If the attack is successful, Auron goes into his Agile Stance.

[Banishing Blade]

Auron’s blade starts unleashing it’s latent potentail and Auron unleashes a powerful strike that deals medium brave damage and then unleashing some dark orbs that deal HP damage but have really short range. If the attack is successful, Auron goes into his Offensive Stance.

[Tornado]

Level Learnt – 38
Auron starts generating a swirling current of wind around him and starts spinning. The spinning part deals brave damage if the opponent is caught in the swirling part. Upon spinning around four times, Auron unleashes a humongous tornado that travels slowly in front of him for about 2 meters before disappearing. If the enemy is caught in the tornado he or she will be Wall Rushed.If the attack is successful, Auron goes into his Offensive Stance.

Auron quickly dashes towards the opponent and swings in a wide stroke to deal HP damage. The attack has 10% chance of making the opponent slow down and reduce overal movement stats. If the attack is successful, Auron goes into his Agile Stance.

BRV DOWN : Auron slashes downwards.

Auron starts emmiting an aura that is reminiscent of the pyreflies from Final Fantasy X and equips his Masamune.

EX Burst : Banishing Tornado [Enter the button inputs before the timer ends]

Auron drinks a bit of sake from his jug while chanelling his sword’s latent power. He then starts spinning around while generating swirling winds around him before unleashing a gigantic tornado that has dark energy swirling opposite to it’s rotation. If the button inputs are successfully inputed, Auron throws his jug with sake to the tornado and cuts it in half along with the tornado, an action that cuts the tornado into two smaller ones that continue to circle around the enemy and ignites them, resulting in the incineration of the enemy. If the button inputs weren’t entered, Auron simply faces away and the tornado disperses.

03.)Fighting Stance (defensive) : Auron stands in a traditional Samurai stance,grapsing his sword with both hands and the left side of his garb is properly worn over his left hand.
04.)Fighting Stance (agile) : Auron hunches a little forward, places his sword near the ground and grasps the sword with both hands to move faster.
05.)Entrance (short) : Auron arrives and just lowers his head.
06.)Entrance (long) : Aruon arrives drinking some sake from his jug.After the camera zooms back to him, he pulls out his sword and lowers his head.
07.)Victory : Auron puts his sword down and fixes his glasses with his left hand.
08.)Defeat : Auron starts falling down while dissolving into pyreflies.
