Create a Character Dissidia Edition – Vol.06 : Zack Fair

I love the Dissidia games immensely, especially the second one, Dissidia 012 Duodecim. So, as you can guess, I want to contribute to the game and its community and try and “create” a new character for it. For this instalment, I give you SOLDIER, Class First, Zack Fair.

Zack Fair

– Description :

– Story and Character :

The young dreaming fighter of Shinra, Zack Fair SOLDIER Class 1rst, mentored by Angeal Hewley. The incredible, happy-go-lucky warrior that helped the hero of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud Strife shape up to be the man he is and give him hope for the future. Never letting go of his pride and dreams, he presses on to an unknown future, accepting all the challenges. Voiced by Suzumura Kenichi in japanese and by Rick Gomez in english.

– Battle Style :

Zack’s fighting style is called Digital Mind Wave. Zack is a character that focus on mix-and-matching attacks for his playstyle to create a flawless and smooth transition between BRAVE attacks and HP attacks. All of his BRAVE attacks can be chained to all of his HP attacks, resulting in a mixed styled gameplay that is up to each player’s own choice. Zack also has a very unique function that enables him to generate more EX Force depending on how well the BRAVE and HP attacks bond together.

Ground :

[Four Slash]

Close range – Physical (Low)

A quick 4-hit slash with good attack power. The first slash makes Zack move a little towards his opponent but not much, covering some very small distance. It has however excellent horizontal and vertical tracking. The four slashes reflect upon Zack’s basic attack in Crisis Core.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain. The attack can be initiated during any of the button presses before the final brave attack input.

[Assault Twister – Assault Twister +]

Close range – Physical (Low)
CP – 20 / 10 (Mastered)
AP – 100
Level Learnt – 05
Zack spins around in place doing damage as long as the twister goes on. A second button press would make Zack spin in place but in reverse and faster, causing him to have a greater radius of attack as well as have him and the enemy rise slightly in the air.

The twister has a drawing effect, while the second twister has a stronger drawing effect. The second twister can be initiated without enemy contact and at any point before the first twister ends. It also causes the enemy to be wall rushed diagonally downwards.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain. The attack can be initiated during any of the button presses before the final brave attack input.

[Spellblade]

Close range – Physical and Magical (Low)
CP – 40 / 20 (Mastered)
AP – 100
Level Learnt – 14
A 4-hit slash combo of moderate speed with good attack power. The first slash makes Zack move a little towards his opponent but not much, covering some very small distance. It has however excellent horizontal and vertical tracking. The four slashes reflect upon Zack’s basic attack in Crisis Core but have the power of the Spellblade materia. The first slash is the Stop Blade that can stun the enemy for 4 seconds, until all the Spellblades hit. The following three slashes are the Firaga, Blizzaga and Thundaga slashes.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain. The attack can be initiated during any of the button presses before the final brave attack input.

[Exploder Wave]

Close range – Physical (Medium)
CP – 10 / 20 (Mastered)
AP – 200
Level Learnt – 18
Zack pauses for a moment to swing his sword back, then attacks over a wide area doing greater damage than normal. The damage done by the slash is almost always a critical with after-effects damage that is inflicted by the wave.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain.

[Iron Fist – Hammer Punch]

Close range – Physical (Low) -> (High)
CP – 40 / 20 (Mastered)
AP – 200
Level Learnt – 22
Zack does a one-two punch combo with a left hook and a right straight that wall rushes. Both punches do BRAVE damage equal to Zack’s normal damage output + BRAVE damage equal to his current level. The attacks can be charged to do double the damage, crit and have High priority.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain. The attack can be initiated during any of the button presses before the final brave attack input.

[Goblin Punch]

Close range – Physical (High)
CP – 60 / 30 (Mastered)
AP – 300
Level Learnt – 28
A punch that ignores defence and guard and deals brave damage equal to Zack’s current level multiplied by twenty. Zack winds up for a few seconds and unleashes a powerful left punch that wall rushes the enemy.

The attack can be chained to any Ground HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain.

Air :

[Jump – High Jump]

Zack jumps once more in mid air, gaining invinsibility for 3 seconds before coming down. If Zack lands on the enemy, then the player can press the button again and launch Zack in the air again but higher for more damage while the enemy is stunned. If Zack misses the target, then he has to wait for 4 seconds before he can move again.

The attack can be chained to any Air HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain. The attack can be initiated during any of the button presses before the final brave attack input.

[Hell Firaga]

Zack fires of a huge dark Firaga ball with white flames. The move comes out at a moderate speed, has pretty good vertical and horizontal tracking.

The attack can be chained to any Air HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain.

[Dark Blizagga]

Zack creates of a huge chunk of a dark looking Blizzaga and drops it. The move comes out at a moderate speed, has pretty good vertical and horizontal tracking.

The attack can be chained to any Air HP attack availiable via BRAVE-HP chain.

[Tri-Thundaga]

Medium range – Magical (Medium)
CP – 10 / 20 (Mastered)

Level Learnt – 30
Zack fires of three different Thundaga spells that arc. The move comes out at a moderate speed, has pretty good vertical and horizontal tracking.

Zack performs an all out attack with very fast slashes. The attack begins immidiatelly with Zack dashing for a short distance and start slashing. The horizontal and vertical tracking are good but only track before the attack starts during the dash.

This attack can be chained from any Ground BRAVE attack via BRAVE-HP link but depending on the attack, several status effects are gained.

[Octaslash]

Medium range – Physical (High)
CP – 40 / 20 (Mastered)

Level Learnt – 03
Zack performs eight slashes with his left hand as his dominant hand based on Sephiroth’s style, ending with a jump slash that lets out an explosion at the end. The attack begins immidiatelly with Zack jump-dashing for a short distance and start slashing. The horizontal and vertical tracking are good but only track before the attack starts during the dash.

This attack can be chained from any Ground BRAVE attack via BRAVE-HP link but depending on the attack, several status effects are gained.

[Rush Assault]

Medium range – Physical (High)

Level Learnt – 24
Zack performs fourteen martial arts attacks based on Angeal’s fighting style, ending with a diving explosive attack. The attack begins immidiatelly with Zack jump-dashing for a short distance and start slashing. The horizontal and vertical tracking are good but only track before the attack starts during the dash.

This attack can be chained from any Ground BRAVE attack via BRAVE-HP link but depending on the attack, several status effects are gained.

Air :

[Air Strike]

Long range – Physical (High)
CP – 40 / 20 (Mastered)
AP – 200
Level Learnt – 13
Zack calls for Tseng’s help as he falls down. For a second a faint light tracks the opponent wherever he or she is and after it locks on that position, after 3 seconds the attacks start but if the first missile misses the attack cannot begin.

This attack can be chained from any Air BRAVE attack via BRAVE-HP link but depending on the attack, several status effects are gained.

[Meteor Shots]

Medium range – Magical (High)
CP – 40 / 20 (Mastered)
AP – 200
Level Learnt – 36
Zack starts glowing with energy and after two seconds he fires a volley of fourteen meteor shots at the opponent. The attack before firing off the meteors has excellent omnidirectional tracking.

This attack can be chained from any Air BRAVE attack via BRAVE-HP link but depending on the attack, several status effects are gained.

Chase Attacks :

BRV : Zack punches the opponent.
BRV UP : Zack uppercuts the opponent upwards.
BRV DOWN : Zack slashes the opponent.
HP : Zack does a slash twister.

– EX Mode :

– Regen [Slowly regenerates HP]
– Critical Hit chance [Higher chance to deal Critical Hits]

EX Mode : Healing Wave of Lucky Stars

– Lucky Stars [All Critical Hits hit 1.5 times stronger than normal]
– Healing Wind [Zack is protected from all status effects]

Zack starts glowing with Life Stream energy.

EX Burst : SOLDIER Apocalypse [Allign Genesis’ portraits]

Zack stops time and starts using the Digital Mind Wave. Just as the DMW is about to allign three sillhouettes of Zack, it gets corrupted and enters Genesis Mode, where the portraits are swapped with Genesis’ portrait. The player has to press the O button to allign the final remaining Genesis portrait to initiate the attack. If all three portraits are alligned then Zack starts floating in the air while a magical circle appears below the enemy. Then, Zack uses the Apocalypse magic attack. If the player fails to allign the portraits, then Zack simply does a low damaging,non critical version of the attack with smaller spells.
