What’re these posts about?
I love the Dissidia games immensely, especially the second one, Dissidia 012 Duodecim. So, as you can guess, I want to contribute to the game and it’s community and try and “create” a new character for it. Each and every Volume will have a detailed analysis of a character from the Final Fantasy series that I’ll try and keep it as faithful as I can to original source and adapt it to the Dissidia form.
The reason I do it because I really want to vent out my creativity for these characters in a personal space. And I kinda like making fighting game characters…at least 3D fighting game characters at least.
What will the gameplay system be like?
I’ll go with Dissidia 012’s system, but with a few tweaks, like being able to change some of the rules in the main story as well, like one can do in the original rules section. Another one would be the add of weapon skins and maybe armour skin, like in the Sengoku BASARA series, when it comes to character exclusive weapons. I’ll list the changes in the appearance of characters in the posts. And that’s my dream system for a Dissidia game…that and the occassional balancing tweaks that come with the fighting games. For my vision of how the Dissidia series will come to work, look here.
So that means you have already compiled a list of characters, at least approximately?
You bet! I have commited to making a list for that by compilling a list that features the characters already existing in the game and providing links of them and how they are featured in the Dissidia series, those that haven’t yet been featured are linked to their original incarnation and the stars (*) are used for the characters that are new entries and those that are underlined are linked to my posts and how I “made” these characters for the Dissidia games. If some characters belong in two factions that may be related to story reasons and changing mid story or at a later cycle in the Dissidia War.
Something important to keep in mind : since the developers now changed the way Dissidia plays to a more Gundam-Vs-Gundam, that brings something to the table that I didn’t think the developers considered possible : character variations. In the Gundam Vs Gundam games several Gundams have different pilots with different movesets or a pilot sometimes pilots a different or a bit upgraded unit and keeps the over style intact, with just enough changes to warrant a change, the best example being Heero Yui with Wing, Wing Zero and the Wing Zero Custom units contrasting Quattre’s Wing Zero. When applied to Final Fantasy, a series where when a character changes, they change veru dramatically, some characters are bound to have variations. Most notable examples would be Cloud Strife from Advent Children and Lightning from Lightning Returns : Final Fantasy XIII. Expect to see some great changes and additions.
Oh and all the Cids in the series are present as supports…for obvious reasons(yes, even the playable ones)…ok, it’s because all the Cids are one of the common things FFs share, so having many Cids muks it up a bit, having them as non-story supports make more sense…at least in my head, I don’t know. :p
